Jacob's Well

As for me the most interesting places of Texas aren't located in Houston. They are situated between/near Austin and San Antonio. It means 3 hours of driving (one-way).
- 3 hours? It's nothing. Nice distance. - my sister calms me down.
- Good to know.

First of all, the reservation is required for swimming in this place. All days in summer months were not available for booking, but I was monitoring the official site constantly anyway. I'm definitely lucky. One day the free date for the next day popped surprisingly up.

The spot for swimming is not big, I would say it's pretty small. But due to the reservations the place is not crowded. Everyone gets the chance to jump into the hole.

I mean THIS hole.

The bottom of the river is slippery. Some of the people were wearing socks and shoes.

You have to recall the knowledge of  the climbing from the childhood to get to the rock for jumping into the water.

The  temperature difference of water and air is significant: constant 20C (68F) against 42C(110F) make the water ice cold.

Everyone sits in the line quietly waiting for their turn to jump from the rocks

and cheering for those who are afraid to make it.

Our 2 hours of the session are over.

But before going home we went to visit couple of must-to-see places.

Devil's Backbone is famous for its mountainous landscape. Totally different to Texas.

It's really beautiful, like in Spain. You have to believe me.

Canyon Lake met us with the turquoise water. Here our positive impression ends up.

The texture of the beach and the bottom of the lake.

The water is clear : no weeds, no plants...

as long as you are not walking  in the water.

It was a productive day.
